Look back: solar thermal energy large power plant Puerto Erradoin in Spain
The 30 megawatt solar thermal power plant Puerto Errado 2 has commenced commercial operation after a construction period of approx. 2 years. The power plant is based on the Fresnel collector technology.
The solar steam generator has a mirror area of 302,000 m2 and is the world’s largest Fresnel solar power plant in operation. The HEBERGER subsidiary HEBERGER Energy mounted 75,000 reflectors on 14,000 ground anchors with a length of 2 meters. The PE2 power plant, with an electrical output of 30 MW, produces up to 50 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The electricity is generated exclusively by solar energy and 16,000 tons of CO2 emissions are saved annually. The clean energy covers the needs of over 12,000 households in Spain.
