The new Southern Elevated Road is a key component of the transport infrastructure in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The centerpiece of the project is the replacement of the approximately 530‑meter‑long bridge that succeeds the former “Pilzhochstraße” (Mushroom Elevated Road). In addition, the “Weiße Hochstraße” (White Elevated Road) underwent extensive modernization, and the pylon bridge was refurbished. In total, the federal government, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, and the City of Ludwigshafen invested around 150 million euros in the future of this efficient and safe transport link.
