In Weiterstadt, Decathlon is building its largest branch in Germany with HEBERGER
In the direct vicinity of the Loop 5 shopping centre, the French sporting goods discounter is building its largest branch in Germany. The construction work for the Decathlon sports shop in Weiterstadt industrial park began at the end of 2019.
A large scaffolding is standing at the vacant building at Gutenbergstraße 1, where the furniture store Sconto was located until more than a year ago. The shop in the building with the striking yellow paint is currently being gutted by HEBERGER. The French sporting goods discounter Decathlon wants to set up its largest branch in Germany there on a total of 7,500 square metres. 75 employees are to be employed there. The opening is planned for the end of 2020. In addition to the sales rooms, it should be possible to try out the products on test areas. The group employs more than 80,000 people worldwide and had a turnover of ten billion euros in 2017. There are 50 branches in Germany. The company has been represented with its first shop in Dortmund since 1986, and since then has opened more and more branches throughout Germany.
